198/5 Spotted Rock-Rose
The RSPB manages its reserves carefully for many rare plants. One of these is the spotted rock-rose, which is found on the maritime heath at RSPB South Stack on Anglesey. Hundreds of these bright yellow flowers can often be seen on the reserve in summer, but you have to get there early to see them at their best, as they tend to lose their petals by noon. Alicia chose to depict the Island of Anglesey in her design as well as the spotted rock-rose, with the lighthouse standing as a silent beacon to seafarers, watched from the cliffs by a colony of puffins.
