Dove Cottage PLQ8
Wordsworth came to Dove Cottage, with his sister Dorothy, just before Christmas in 1799. Their new home was a humble cottage with white washed walls and Lakeland slate floors, in a hamlet, Town End, on the end of Grasmere village. Wordsworth described Dove Cottage and the garden surrounding it as ' the loveliest spot that man hathever found'. It was a place that fed his inspiration, as here he wrote some of the world's most famous poetry. Nicola's plaque shows the lane outside Dove Cottage overflowing with springtime daffodils and bluebells, while a flight of swallows swoop and soar overhead.
