Moorcroft Green The Fruitful Vale Woodpecker Plaque

A boldly-patterned Green Woodpecker, proudly perched on two apples, holds its chisel-like bill up towards the summer sun and one is left to anticipate whether he intends to peck into the tempting pears or 'drum' away at a tree trunk as part of a breeding display. With a strikingly coloured head, stiff tail and with two toes facing forwards and two backwards to give a better grip on rounded fruit, this handsome fellow of Lincoln green, capped with red, is sure to delight in Kerry’s fruitful vale.
